How to Update Your Look with Accessories
If you’re any woman in this world, you always find yourself bombarded with new styles and fashion. If you’re anything like me, you are always just a few steps behind the fashion curve, wearing last fall’s styles this spring. Also, there isn’t a woman in the world who doesn’t feel constant pressure to look or act a certain way. Even those who claim to dress “alternatively” are dressing in a specific style. I have learned recently that an easy and inexpensive way to keep your look updated is to accessorize, and then accessorize some more. These are just a few ideas of ways to accessorize your looks.
Headbands. True, not everyone has the length or the right sized head to wear headbands. However, they seem to have come in style and are here to stay for quite a while. There are many websites offering hand-made headbands that can be designed to fit even the smallest of heads. Another idea is to look for fabrics at a fabric store or in your mother’s closet and make your own. You can buy elastic really cheap and cut and sew the fabrics yourself.
Silver is the new black. Silver jewelry has the ability to match almost any colors of the rainbow. You can find cheap rings, necklaces, and bracelets made of mostly silver to wear with any outfit. I recommend long-chained necklaces right now and over-sized rings with silver bands.
Scarves. Scarves are another one of those accessories that have recently come back in to style and seem to be here to stay. Once again, you can make your own by going to a fabric store. Also stores like Wal-Mart and Old Navy sell scarves of all colors to match any outfit in your wardrobe. Try wearing a bright colored scarf with a plain white tank-top and jeans. It’s simple, inexpensive, and always stylish.
Mani-Pedi. Having well manicured hands and feet always are in style. For the summer, try brighter colors on your toes and hands as well. If you’ve been paying attention you know that dark nail polish is in right now. Don’t paint your nails black. Instead, find a deep purple color and use that. It gives your nails an “almost black” appearance. If you cannot afford to get regular mani-pedis you can do them yourself at home. Make sure to clean your nails and trim them well before painting. Having clean nails keeps the polish from chipping too soon.
These are just a few ways to update your look on a budget without having to spend too much money. Trying to stay in style will always be a battle with women, but I hope these ideas have made things a little simpler.
